Etapa 1

Irun – Irun

Stage 1

Irun – Irun

The time trial returns to the Itzulia during a short and not very demanding stage but with several steep climbs. The first leg will be vital to get off to a good start and set a good pace. There is a short, cobbled section with a 10% gradient right at the start. That should separate the wheat from the chaff. After several ups and downs, begins the only ascent of the stage, with an elevation of 1.7km at 5.2% that will have to be ridden flat out. From there, the race crosses the length of the Olaberria neighbourhood downhill until the ramp up to the town hall square. The favourites are expected to be close, barring any surprises.

Departure

Irun

If you are a 21st-century traveler and are looking for a combination and balance between rest, culture, gastronomy and nature, Irun is your city.

20 minutes from San Sebastián and Biarritz and one hour from Bilbao and Pamplona, it will surprise you with its peculiar history, its spectacular landscapes and its wide cultural range. All in one.

Discover the magical sensation of crossing the International Bridge on foot that unites the two countries and experiencing their cultures simultaneously. Right here, put on a pilgrim’s costume and travel to the past, both along the Camino de Santiago that crosses the streets of Irun, and through the corridors of the Oiasso Roman Museum.

Take refuge in one of our rural houses in the middle of nature and explore the islands, beaches, meadows, marshes and forests that makeup Txingudi Bay, along with Hondarribia and Hendaye.

Come with your children and enjoy the family plans that Irun offers you in addition to savoring the traditional and popular Basque cuisine through its pintxos after an afternoon of shopping in the more than 1,200 establishments that the city has.

Come to Irun!
