Durango will host a stage finish at Itzulia 2027

Under the agreement signed between Durango Town Council and OCETA, the town will host a stage finish of Itzulia 2027. The event will strengthen the town’s links with cycling, allow the public to enjoy the race first-hand and help boost the local economy.

Durango will host a stage of the 2027 Itzulia Basque Country, which will take place between April 5 and 10. Durango Town Council and OCETA, the association organising the race, signed an agreement today, October 21, to host a stage finish of one of the most prominent events on the international cycling calendar.

The event will continue to build on Durango’s close ties with cycling, as the sport has a long tradition and a strong following in the town. Over the years, the town has been closely linked to the Itzulia and other top-level competitions such as the Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria. Hosting this stage will give the public the chance to experience an international sporting event right up close.

The arrival of the Itzulia will also help raise the profile of Durango among cycling enthusiasts and may boost the local economy. Consequently, the town will be getting itself ready for a day when cycling will once again take centre stage.

By choosing this new venue, the Itzulia continues to strengthen its ties with the towns and villages across the Basque Country, bringing the spectacle of cycling to different parts of the region and showcasing the landscapes, towns and villages, and passion for the sport that characterise this Basque road race.

Details of the stage that will finish in Durango and the full route of the 2027 Itzulia Basque Country will be announced shortly.
