2nd stage finish line presented in Leitza

Leitza will host the finish line for the second stage of Itzulia 2023. Mikel Zabaleta, mayor of Leitza, and Julián Eraso, president of OCETA today presented the finish line in Leitza.

Today, in Leizta, saw the official signing of the collaboration agreement and the presentation of the details of the second state of Itzulia 2023. The signing took place in the town hall of Leitza in the presence of Mikel Zabaleta, mayor of Leitza and Julian Eraso, president of OCETA. They shared their views on what the finish line could mean for Leitza and Itzulia.

During the presentation, the mayor of Leitza indicated that “the town had a great love of sport, and of course cycling, and had experienced sporting success in various disciplines worldwide. This was why being part of Itzulia, an event with global repercussions, was very important for the municipality, and an opportunity for the town to enjoy and participate in the race”.

Julián Eraso commented after the signing, “We are very happy we can continue to count on the collaboration of Leitza. They have been with us for several years now and we couldn’t be happier. Bringing the best cyclists in the world to Leitza is always a pleasure”.

Roberto Laiseka, race technical director, provided his analysis of the second stage: “it’s the longest stage of this year’s Itzulia, the first part of which passes through Leitza, an ideal area for a breakaway. The entrance to the second part of the stage includes a circuit where the leaders will need to be at the front, as its winding roads and the weather can be decisive due to its long downhills.”
