This year the Itzulia will include the participation of 23 teams.
The organisers of Itzulia Basque Country have sent invitations to all 18 UCI WorldTeams. The Itzulia is obliged to invite Alpecin-Fenix and Team Arkea-Samsic to compete in the race due to their classification in the 2021 UCI rankings. Following their rejection of the invitation, the following teams have been invited:
- TotalEnergies
- Caja Rural-Seguros RGA
- Burgos-BH
- Euskaltel-Euskadi
- Equipo Kern Pharma
All 5 teams have accepted the invitation and will race at the 61st edition of the Itzulia.
“The Itzulia will once again feature the best teams and cyclists on the international calendar. We are happy to continue to count on home and national teams. We believe that it is very important to allow the UCI ProTeams to demonstrate their excellent level and put on a show every day”, said Julian Eraso.
