Correos Express returns to the Itzulia Basque Country in 2022

  • The Correos Group’s express parcel delivery subsidiary will award the best team and provide logistical support to the Basque race.

Itzulia Basque Country 2022 will once again count on Correos Express for logistical support at the 61st edition of the race. In addition, the Correos Group’s express parcel delivery subsidiary will award the best team at each stage of the race.

As in 2021, the company will award the best team of each stage, presenting them with a trophy before the next day’s race. The Correos Group’s express parcels subsidiary will also provide the race with five trailers, four tractor trucks and a rigid truck that will be used to transport all the materials required throughout the six stages of the competition.

The event, which will take place from 4 to 9 April 2022, will cover more than 882.2 km of Basque territory, passing through towns such as Hondarribia, Vitoria and Eibar, among others. 23 teams will participate in the Itzulia Basque Country, divided between 18 UCI World Teams and 5 invited UCI Pro Teams, such as Caja Rural, Burgos, Euskaltel, Kern Pharma and TotalEnergies.

“Cycling races are very complex sporting events to organise as our ‘stadium’ is comprised of Basque roads, mountains and towns. We need support such as that provided by Correos Express to move all the infrastructures and take the show to unique locations in our territory”, stated Julián Eraso, president of Organizaciones Ciclistas Euskadi (OCETA). Adding that “Correos Express is a perfect brand to hand out the award for best team”.
