Amorebieta-Etxano Town Council and OCETA have signed an agreement to include the town in the route of next year’s race

The town of Amorebieta-Etxano will be part of the 2027 Itzulia route and will host a stage finish, following the signing of the agreement today, October 15, 2027.

The signing ceremony was attended by the mayor of Amorebieta-Etxano, Ainhoa Salterain, and OCETA’s president, Javier Riaño. Under this agreement, the town will officially become part of the route of next year’s race, one of the most important events on the international cycling calendar. This is the first stage to be officially confirmed for the 2027 event.

Amorebieta-Etxano has a deep-rooted cycling culture and history, which has been closely linked to the Itzulia over the years. The mayor, Ainhoa Salterain, spoke about the importance of this agreement for the town: “We are delighted that the Itzulia is coming back to Amorebieta-Etxano. We are a town with a great cycling tradition, and we know that the people of Amorebieta-Etxano will thoroughly enjoy the last stage of next year’s Itzulia.”

The inclusion of Amorebieta-Etxano as a finishing point reinforces the town’s historic connection with the race and seals its place on the route for the 2027 event. The agreement sets out the scope of collaboration between the two parties for organising and running the race in the town.

The news was announced on the same day that the agreement was signed, and marks the start of the joint efforts to prepare for the stage finish in Amorebieta-Etxano during the upcoming Itzulia.
